Long Distance Dialing

Long Distance Dialing Within The 518 LATA

Please carefully read the new dialing instructions. Germantown Telephone customers do not need to dial the digit “1” before making toll calls within the 518 area code. You will still be charged the standard toll rates even though you will dial these numbers as if they are local calls. The prefixes of the telephone numbers which are within your local calling area are listed under Local Dialing Instructions. Calls to any other number within your area code which are not a part of your local calling area will continue to incur a long distance charge. If you are unsure as to the applicability of a long distance charge to a specific call, please call the business office at 537-6255 for assistance. Customers should continue to dial a “1” on all calls to places outside the 518 area code.
